Week 59 - Wear it out (without audio)
Keep on keepin' on- Saadadeen & Sulaiman catch you up with a thought from their week
Falling
The last few weeks have been packed with change.
The last few weeks have packed a punch.
My systems have been stress-tested.
My ego has been at best restless.
It’s only been a month.
Yet when I think about the lessons learnt.
The list is endless.
We got an email last week.
Saying that 1 of the kitchen staff.
Unexpectedly passed away.
He’s been working here for a decade.
I remember walking past him the other day.
I never got to say salaam.
I hear he’s left two kids behind.
Keep them in your duas.
In times of change.
You appreciate the value of quiet calm.
The breathing space that it protects.
The ethical choices that it corrects.
As my brother once remarked.
We don’t rise to the level of our vision.
We fall to the level of our systems.
So how much falling am I willing to accept?
I was reminded this week
protect your peace
that you must
at all costs
in the eye of a storm
between rocks and hard places
lost without a paddle
the bottom of a barrel
hold it wear it
put it somewhere
or someplace safe no one else knows about
only you
and whoever you might allow in
to get a glimpse
just a glimpse
in the dead of some night
