Week 57 - Closure (without audio)
The world misses you - Saadadeen & Sulaiman each share a thought from their week
Instructions or Intentions
Why do you want what you want?
When did you decide that was what you wanted?
What vision have you idealised?
What scene in what script have you memorised?
What image?
What feeling?
What dynamic are you driven towards?
What does a perfect life look like to you at its core?
What people would be present?
What stories would be told?
What lessons would be learnt?
How would each person interact with one another?
How would respect and honour define the culture?
Respect and honour are integral components.
Yet what I find curious.
Is that 2 people can demonstrate both with 2 different sets of movements.
Even if 1 represents a preference.
Both can be underpinned by principle.
Both can be admirable.
Leaving me to question.
Should my vision give me instruction?
Or should my vision remind me of intentions?
Rick James
I think of Dave Chappelle’s Oprah Winfrey interview after his long hiatus and disappearing to Africa.
I wonder how it must have felt to finally get to address the world on his own terms. I think about how rare that is, not many of us get the chance to address the people we want in the way we want. I wonder if he felt that the world was missing him.
I think about Libya, and I think about Morocco, and I think about Sudan. I think of the scores of souls that have reunited with their maker in a way that feels all too premature. I wonder what they might have said with the whole world in attendance. What closure might look like to them? Do they know the world misses them?
